MEGHAN MARKLE’S BEAUTY SECRET IS NOT IN MAKE UP!

Many of us were emotionally moved and delighted by this year’s beautiful royal wedding that united Britain’s most favourite couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the 19th of May. However, what has got women in particular talking about the most is how radiant Meghan looked on her wedding day, encouraging them to eagerly find out her beauty secrets and the make up brands she used to give her such a glowing complexion.

The past 2 years in particular have witnessed a huge rise in the global purchasing of make up, with new brands such as Artist of Make Up, launched by British owner Zukreat Dua Majeed and Huda Beauty launched by Dubai based owner Huda Kattan taking over the make up industry. We have also seen a steep rise in Youtube make up tutorials and a deeper interest in how to pull off a flawless Kim Kardashian-style contoured face and many bridal make up skills. So it does come as a complete surprise to many young women to know that Meghan opted for a “no-make up” look on her wedding day. I have come across women who were absolutely shocked and failed to understand how the future Duchess of Sussex opted to go, what the majority would consider "makeup free" on the most important day of her life, a day in which many perhaps would have opted for a more glamorous bridal look. At the same time, many people were impressed and admired her self confidence and beauty on that day regardless of the fact she only had a sheer pink lip, light smoky eyes and a beautiful dark volume in her lashes.

Meghan’s make up artist Daniel Martin told INSIDER how Meghan did not wish to change the way she looked using makeup, but instead wanted a ‘more elevated and polished version’ of herself. This included embracing her freckles that she allowed to shine through, which gave her a natural almost angelic look, you could say. She told Allure last year that she credits her father for helping her learn to love her freckles as a kid, rather than perceive them as an imperfection that needs covering up or airbrushing in photographs: "For all my freckle-faced friends out there, I will share with you something my dad told me when I was younger: ‘A face without freckles is a night without stars.’”

So how did she manage to pull a no-makeup look off? The answer is simply great skin care. I think Meghan wished to send an important message to young women to show them that they can be confident in embracing their unique natural beauty if they take care of it well. "Great skin care is a must for a no-makeup makeup look because there's an authentic glow that happens when the skin is balanced that makeup can't replicate," Martin told INSIDER. "You can use makeup to cancel out redness and neutralize skin tone but it's important to have the skin hydrated and moisturized as well.” Markle has spoken before to Beauty Banter about her love of Jan Marini’s face serum and the Laura Mercier illuminating primer, among others to achieve a subtle look that does not require foundation.

As a natural and organic skin care brand, we truly believe in, encourage and celebrate the appreciation of one's own natural beauty and we always try to encourage men and women of all ages to look after their skin and quickly attend to issues that, if not solved, can get worse over time or make the application of makeup more of an issue to their skin than an enhancement of their features. For example, applying foundation and powders to dry skin or skin that is suffering from acne will not allow for it to breathe, which causes more problems and in turn the make up will not look as good on the face. The pores will absorb whatever you apply to your skin into your blood stream, so it is very important to always make sure that you are hydrating, treating and nourishing your skin using the best of natural and organic ingredients as possible to condition it from both inside and outside. This will help you to achieve a more healthy and radiant complexion over time, alongside the aid of a healthy diet, stress free lifestyle and plenty of water. A combination of these will eventually help you to feel happier and more comfortable in your own skin, quite literally!

So the moral of the story is, if you want to achieve Meghan’s look, invest in high quality skin care products that are suitable for your skin type, which include a natural cleanser, exfoliator and toner and if make up is needed then try to lessen your use of heavy foundations and powders and replace them with a high quality primer and/or concealer for problem areas only. This will allow you to become more used to and comfortable with going out make up free and will raise your confidence in believing that you look absolutely fabulous! As Marilyn Monroe once said, "A smile is the best makeup a girl can wear", so a combination of a dazzling smile and healthy skin will surely get you looking and feeling like you have just married a prince as well!
