EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL - FROM PALESTINE AND SYRIA

We thought we would take some time to write about the fair-trade, cold pressed, Palestinian and Syrian extra virgin olive oil, because we use it in all of our soaps and would therefore love to share what the amazing benefits of it are. The oil we use is produced from hand-picked olives in Syria and the West Bank that have been pressed on the day of picking by farmers whose ancestors have tended their trees by hand for countless generations. Extra virgin olive oil is better than other olive oils, because it undergoes the least amount of processing, which helps it to contain its high nutritional value. It has countless health benefits when used both internally and externally and is loaded with healthy fats and antioxidants, such as vitamins A and E that can help repair skin damage from sun, cigarette smoke and pollutants.

Extra virgin olive oil is a great skin moisturizer and penetrates deep into the skin, providing the needed nutrients and moisture as well as a shield to protect your skin, keeping it soft, smooth and healthy looking. This oil also helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin, repair skin cells and the antioxidants in this oil can also reach deep into the pores to help remove dead skin cells, dirt, and even blackheads. It can also great at treating and preventing returning acne, as it removes excess oil on the face and is effective at nourishing the hair and scalp. All of our soaps are suitable as shampoo bars due to their high quality oil and herb content.

Soaps that contain extra virgin olive oil can be used as a substitute for shaving cream too, as it stimulates the follicles for a closer shave and are efficient at smoothing the shaved areas. Hard soaps that contain extra virgin olive oil can last for many years, as it is considered to be a natural preservative. We had a great opportunity last year to visit the Sidon Soap Factory in coastal city Sidon in Lebanon, where we found olive oil soaps that date back hundreds of years and are still in good condition!
