Frankincense
Frankincense is a beautiful golden resin extracted from the sap in the bark of the Boswellia sacra tree, which thrives in arid, cool areas of the Arabian Peninsula, East Africa and India. The resins used for incense are extracted from the lower part of the tree. Burning these resins is an ancient ritual that has been passed down through generations.
Myrrh
Myrrh resin comes from the Commiphora myrrha tree, which is native to northeast Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It can reach 3 meters high. The process for extracting myrrh resins are similar to frankincense. Harvesters make a long cut in the tree's trunk, which pierces resin reservoirs within the bark. The sap drips down the tree, forming tear-shaped droplets left to harden on the side of the tree. Harvesters collect the hard resin after two weeks.
